    LMI Fabricates and installs bathroom and closet products for residential, hospitality and commercial builders that operates throughout California and Nevada in five locations. Our team is seeking a Safety Specialist to manage our growing day to day operations of the Safety functions at the Business Units to ensure excellence for all Safe Work Practice processes and compliance with a Customer 1st focus.

    Purpose:

    The purpose of the Safety Coordinator is to implement and enforce safe work practices throughout the facility through audits, training, inspections, investigations and planning. The Safety Coordinator will work directly with employees at all levels to continually improve the safety culture, the team’s safety behaviors, and the overall safety metric results. Working as the Safety Committee Team Leader, the Safety Coordinator will hold periodic meetings with members of his or her team.

    The Safety Coordinator will be responsible for establishing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs to assure the highest possible degree of safety for employees throughout the facility. The successful candidate will be a self-starting leader who enjoys the challenges of a changing environment with daily involvement with employees and plant leaders.

    Responsibilities:

    Safety Program management all locations and disciplines, update written programs and create builder specific plans.

    • Hazard Communication Plan, County filing and reporting, Inspections, corrections, CUPA annual updates. (LMI-S, COX, Chaparral and ACG-N), waste, disposal and manifest filing.

    • Storm water program compliance, Implement SWPPPS, BMP’s and water board compliance, water testing, reporting, inspections.

    • SCAQMD Paint Booth reporting, filings, inspections.

    • Fire Inspections, suppression management, annual and quarterly testing requirements etc.

    • Perform JSA for each new jobsite, emergency action plans both in the field and at facilities.

    • OSHA 300 reporting and managing each division logs. Online reporting portal beginning in 2018. Each location is separate.

    • Investigate all accidents, Injuries, schedule post accident and injury drug screenings maintain files for each event, manage claims with carrier or TPA, and monthly clinic review on open claims.

    • Maintain OSHA consultation relationship and support. Schedule annual inspections of all locations.

    • Schedule weekly tailgate talk safety meetings all Installation crews, report those sign sheets to various builders for compliance with contract. (Every 2 weeks for all other employees).

    • Other duties as assigned.

       

      Maintain compliance on the following safety programs annually or as needed.

    • PPE Program.

    • Return to work Program (Modified duty guidelines).

    • Hearing Conservation Program.

    • Heat Illness program and compliance with OSHA.

    • Respiratory Protection Plan.

    • Driver Safety Program (Increased training since our huge claim).

    • Lift Truck Safety Program (Forklifts, Boom Lifts, Man Lifts, Grad-All).

    • Emergency Action Plans.

    • Attend trade partner meetings (various builders), new project safety orientation meetings etc.

       

      Requirements:

    • 5-9 years of manufacturing safety experience.

    • Knowledge of OSHA regulations and applications.

    • A background in safety and/or first response training is highly desired, but not required

    • Desire to grow knowledge and complete training courses to apply information within the plant

    • Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Suites including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook to help create reports, graphs, etc. to display actions and results

    • Must be able to work flexible hours/shifts including weekends when needed

    • The ability to communicate effectively with internal and external employees at all levels throughout the organization

    • Deliver regulatory safety training and other internal safety training as identified and needed.

    • Develop and issue Safety Alerts in a timely manner

    • The ability to use critical thinking to solve problems

    • Address safety issues identified by the Continuous Improvement Engineer, plant leaders and employees and develop action plans to correct identified issues

    • Work closely with departments to develop safety programs (lockout/tagout, etc.)
